Buildup -- Step 5: Center spool & tranny mount
This part goes quick & easy. Get all of your parts
ready ahead of time and push the bearings into their respective housings
(fig. 28). Be sure to route the chain out the top when you assemble
the two halves together (fig. 29). Don't use Loctite on the two
screws that connect the halves -- just use it on the rear output shaft
set screw. The manual will tell you to remove the sprocket from the transmission
assembly, but this is not necessary. Hook the sprocket under the chain,
face the rear tranny mount (the one pre-assembled onto the shaft) down,
push the whole assembly forward with one hand and firmly lift the front
of it with the other. The front of the shaft will slide into the ball
bearing and all of a sudden everything will fit just right. Bolt the rear
mount to the chassis plate and you're set.
