Buildup -- Step 14: Rear axle

Now you're going to need to assemble the last two bearing carriers with some short linkages. Use locktite on the 3x12mm screws that hold the links onto the carriers, and tighten firmly. Use Loctite on the 4x10mm flanged cap screws again. When I got to assembling the carriers onto the axle tube, I found that the 3x12mm screws that go through the other ends of these short links weren't long enough to accept the specified flanged nuts on the other end (fig. 63), but the screws seemed to hold in their holes, so hopefully this won't be a problem.

Now you get to attach the rear axle assembly to the chassis (fig. 64). Again use powdered graphite on the suspension pivots, and if you use locknuts on the pivot screws, don't use Loctite. I've used locknuts and aluminum collars for the upper shock mounts here as well.

I'll have to admit that this last step was rather anti-climactic. I was expecting to be awed by the beauty of the truck after getting the suspension completed, but there's just something not very pretty about fig. 65. Oh well, time to fix that by getting some tires on this beast.
