The Header: Reloaded
As I mentioned before, I was not too happy about the performance of the new exhaust setup, with the New Era header and RB 063 pipe. I was pretty confident, however, that most of the problem was coming from the tight and sharp bend in the header and the mismatched shape of the adapter. So, I reinstalled my ported stock header, but left the RB pipe on, and took 'er out for a run.

To my delight, there was a huge improvement in performance! The engine reved up far, far quicker! It seemed to have more torque throughout the RPM range, and acted as if I had gone from a very heavy flywheel to a very lightweight one. This is the setup!
Incidentally, in the image above you can also see that I did some Dremel work on the head with a 1/16" bit to increase cooling efficiency for free. How much this will help I can't be certain, but I know it's better than nothing.
